OILS, CREAMS & LOTIONS

A very good article about what the differences are between the three.

Creams, oils and lotion are all very different, but they’re all meant to moisturize and soften the skin, They can be very nourishing and soothing as well. The main difference (aside from additives) is their oil to liquid ratio. The goal of this article is to give you a basic overview of oils and creams and not to make an argument of what you should use.

Oils are just as they sound. Straight up oil with no water or liquid additives. Oils are more moisturizing to the driest skin, especially in drier months. Most people's skin is driest at the end of the day so oils are best for using at night, before bedtime. Oils tend to absorb more quickly on women than men, especially in the winter.

Creams are a blend of oil and liquid that have a higher percentage of oil than water. They’re thicker than oil or lotion and absorb faster than oils, but less quickly than lotions. Their moisturizing properties tend to last longer than lotions. We believe that creams are the best of both worlds because they can be applied at any time of day, at any time of year by either gender.

Lotions are predominantly water-based with a low percentage of oil. They are the thinnest of all but absorb into the skin quickly. They often contain alcohols that will dry out your skin. Lotions are often used in the morning when the skin is most hydrated.

Which Category Does Our Cream Fit-In?

Before the blending, our cream base begins as a very thick lotion. We then blend a very carefully prepared formulation of pure essential oils with the lotion base. This creates the very special cream.
